Background

Smeet is a 3D social multiplayer game that allows players to connect and interact in a virtual world.

Goals

I strive to ensure that each asset looks high-quality and appealing to players, balancing the need for visually rich designs with performance considerations. This involves optimizing assets to maintain their visual integrity without significantly impacting the game’s performance, ensuring items don’t overly burden the system while still delivering a high-quality experience.

Challenges

In one respect, I incorporate intricate details like seams into my textures to achieve a realistic look, enhancing their visual appeal and overall quality. Attaining a realistic look can be challenging due to the low-poly models and technical constraints, such as the absence of lighting effects or shaders.

In another respect, the models for clothing must fit seamlessly across various avatar types, accounting for differences in body shapes, sizes, and proportions. Each design is tailored to adapt smoothly to different models without compromising its aesthetic appeal or functional integrity.
To achieve this, I focus on preventing clipping issues and ensuring the items accommodate dynamic movements and animations.
